The requirement of translating and legalizing civil status acts has been eliminated for certain countries
As a general rule, in order for them to have legal effects in Romania, a foreign national’s civil status acts must be translated into Romanian. Beginning with Jun 5th 2013 Romania applies Convention 6 of the Interntional Committee for Civil Status on release of multilingual excerpts of civil status acts, based on Law 65/2012 concerning Romania’s accession to the above mentioned Convention. Text of the Convention
Civil status documents do not have to be translated if they were issued by the authorities of the country of origin according to the type-approved form provided in the Convention Annex, and the issuing state has ratified the Convention. ( Member states ).
